Interesting shift in ammo supply

Finally after a year of the pandemic, there’s been some movement in the ammo supply in central Iowa. Nothing is “over” of course, but I’m at least seeing signs of hope. Which is strange as I’ve said before, 100% of the people use toilet paper (which has been over for awhile), but only 3% – 6% of the people are active shooters. And re-loaders are even a smaller group than that. So why the shortage going into its second year?

From this video and talking to other shooters, Bass Pro and Sportsman’s Warehouse are getting the reputation of being a little deceptive. They’re alleged to be letting their employees scoop up what little supply comes in. That makes sense from what I’ve seen. Big box stores getting in 10 boxes of 9mm? That’s ridiculous. 1 brick (10 – 100 packs) of primers? That’s a joke. Those stores on a weekend could sell 3,000 boxes of 9mm. They could sell a 1,000 bricks of primers.

Then most of these stores act like the only ones who can make primers are Winchester, CCI, Remington and Federal. Why? These stores regularly sell firearms related products from Mexico, Philippines, Brazil, Argentina, Russia, Croatia, Turkey, Germany, Czech Republic and others, so why not primers? None of this makes any sense. You can’t make money if you don’t have product to sell. Why aren’t they going overseas to get that product?

Why this ridiculous loyalty to domestic producers who every 10 years gut your profit margin? I do not get it.

But as to the movement I’m seeing, last Saturday Scheel’s had boatloads of .223 rifle ammunition. On Wednesday they had a ton of 9mm. Theisen’s yesterday had a good amount of Aguila 9mm and .22 LR. Walmart isn’t getting in .22 every week, but a couple of times a month lately. And why this is significant, is that like those SOB’s running the gun show this weekend in Ames, the more supply the big box stores have at an honest price, the more pressure it puts on the gun shows to quit their price gouging.

The other bit of ‘movement’ I’ve seen, is that after sitting over a year in bankruptcy, Remington ammunition has been picked up by Vista Outdoors (who also owns Federal, Blazer and CCI). They’ve been producing now for a month or so. Green boxes are hitting the store shelves. So the ammo is starting to show up, God knows when the primers will.

[The other funny thing about all this is “perceptions”. 2 years ago 9mm at rock bottom prices for a box of 50 (Armscor, Blazer, Aguila) was $8 or $9 dollars a box. Now in the middle of the shortage Theisen’s was selling Aguila for $16.99, and we thought that was a great price! Its double what it was 18 months ago.]

That’s strange, American business doesn’t want to make money

There’s been several “head scratchers” to do with this pandemic thing caused by the Wu Flu. One is Fauci and other American scientists connection to the very Wuhan lab where it came from. The funding is one thing, not to mention the meetings that have now been scrubbed from the internet.

You can take any public embarrassment a politician or Hollywood type has and in a day there will be t-shirts and coffee mugs trying to make a buck off of it. Yet this pandemic has caused any number of shortages for products that were ripe for making huge profits! And no one seems interested. N-95 masks, toilet paper, rubbing alcohol, small and large pistol primers, ammunition.

Maybe its just me, but I find it a little odd when capitalists aren’t interested in making money.

Father Charles E. Coughlin

What is the truth? That is such a tough commodity to acquire. Rare. Some people manufacture it, but it is definitely hard to find in its natural state. I’d first heard about Father Coughlin in the ’96 presidential race. I immediately took a liking to him because they were trying to compare the Catholic Patrick Buchanan to him. I knew nothing about the guy but if he was like Pat he must be good.

I still don’t know how to pronounce his name (cough coog cog), why the Irish had to be like that with their pronunciation I don’t know. But all I’ve been able to find out about him so far are characterizations of him. In typical liberal dirt bag fashion, they won’t tell you what he said, only that what he said is “bad“. They say things like fascist, anti-Semitic, racist, and all manner of other things, but they won’t tell you what he said.

So I went to a site that is supposed to be for him. I know for other figures back then, not wanting to fight another one of Europe’s wars automatically made you a fascist wanting to gas the Jews! How they made that leap I don’t know. The bottom line is, why can’t Europe stand on its own two feet? Because they’ve never had to. The powers that be are quite content for American blood to be spilled for them, and American wallets to be emptied protecting them.

Its ironic in a country that supposedly prizes free speech, he was forced off the radio and his magazine was banned from being distributed by the Postal Service under the Espionage Act! So much for free speech when you question the government. It is just ludicrous someone would be so vilified because of their words. It shows how weak the foundation of the governments policies, that they would be so threatened by one man that they had to shut him up. The FCC didn’t exist until his radio show. It was created to force him off the air.

And the website linked above dedicated to his memory? It also smears him with unsubstantiated rumors. Basically his downfall was that he attacked the Federal Reserve, the Income Tax and Hollywood. All key components to keeping this Ponzi scheme going.

It’s okay to celebrate every culture in this country except the one that created it

I like that quote (Matt Braynard – Executive Director of Look Ahead America, former data chief and strategist for Trump for President). It says a ton (metric or English). It highlights to me the confusion the left is having and the mental gymnastics required for their “two legs good, four legs better” world view. All this started with “women’s rights” and now we have men dressing up as women wiping them out on the sports field.

We’re reverting back to “blacks only” dormitories and other campus safe spaces. While we put limits on Asian entries. No statue or remembrance is safe from the antebellum south, yet whites who died to free the brother get no credit. A special amnesty just came through for “migrant” farm workers, putting the seal of approval on the modern day slave.

Max Waters literally calls for violent confrontations, and she won’t even be censured, let alone tossed out of office (freedom firebrand Marjorie Greene has a better chance of removal). As a black female, the only way Waters could be more untouchable was if she was a thespian (likes only women). And all the while, the guy with the job, the guy not rioting, the guy paying for all this, the white guy, gets nothing but dissed.

[in truth “resists taking a bath” also applies to the leftist]

We were a pretty awesome country 50 years ago

We were a pretty awesome country 50 years ago, the rapidity of the decline will make your head snap. How do you do that? Go from the world’s numero uno (number one) economic and military power (not even close), to a banana republic that can’t even hold an honest election? Well the quickest way is by doing what we did. We imported the 3rd world, we became the third world. And no, its not just some crank in Iowa saying it, but Tucker Carlson on FOX News and others are braving the wrath of the intelligentsia to say it also. In much prettier words, but saying it nonetheless. Population replacement. People just weren’t dying quick enough. Even the brainwashing in the schools wasn’t working quick enough, too many failures.

“The reason why multiculturalism exists is to pretend that inferior cultures aren’t inferior and that superior cultures aren’t superior. It’s a way to tell nice lies about rotten cultures and rotten lies about great cultures. And from this, we’ve set ourselves up not only to believe the enemy propaganda that “Islam means peace”, but to propagate it ourselves, all while blaming ourselves for the enemy’s war on us.” – Bosch Fawstin

F-ing cops

Neither side in this traffic stop is perfect, but I definitely side with the Army Lieutenant. The cops just go psycho nuts like usual. Non-stop yelling and pointing of guns. The fat doughnut eater in the thumbnail was ready to murder over a traffic stop. Just crazy. The Lieutenant was lucky he didn’t end up dead. And that is a sad thing to have to say.

Like Russians in a breadline

If you called around in the Great Ammo Shortage of 2020/2021, you’d get the same answer from the guy at the firearm counter, “Oh we don’t know when its going to come in.” Bullshit. Ammunition is the most in demand item you’ve ever seen, you damn well know when your livelihood is coming in. At Theisen’s its Thursday, at Sportsman’s Warehouse its Monday morning, at JAX its Friday/Saturday, Fleet Farm I don’t know, but the interesting one is Bass Pro on Saturday morning.

A friend told me about Bass Pro, the clerks never would have. And they did have ammo. Not much, and the ding-a-lings were letting people buy 5 boxes a caliber. That’s nuts during a shortage. 2 max should be the limit. The one primer size I saw? Small rifle magnum. WTF? If I ever score some primers I’ll never have to buy from these clowns again. But there we were, a bunch of rednecks standing in line at a Bass Pro on a Saturday morning salivating over a few pathetic boxes of ammo. Its embarrassing. What is this, Russia??

I finally got the truth from Walmart. None of those people seem to know what’s going on. The Boone Walmart 2 months ago told me they were getting .22 LR in so I’ve been checking the 3 stores (2 in Ames, 1 in Boone). A complete waste of time. I recognized the gal in the sporting goods today, “We no longer sell .22.” Well then why in hell have I been wasting my time walking to the back of the store?

I’d asked the South Duff store a couple a weeks ago if they were still carrying it. “Oh yeah, yeah, we just don’t have any right now.” My ass, the security glass had been taken off the shelves, I wasn’t buying her answer then. So after weeks and weeks of walking back to the sporting goods counter, I find out I’ve been wasting my time. Its a real shame about Walmart. A year and a half ago I was buying a box or two every time I went in, I knew they were going to quit selling pistol ammo. Now they’ve quit selling .22 LR also.

Everybody seems to be of the opinion we’ll never see $9 for a box of 9mm ever again. Just 2 years ago you could pick up a thousand rounds for $160. Now if you can even find a thousand rounds you’re going to pay $800 for it. I’ve resigned myself to the fact I’m going to be spending my time pulling the lever on a reloading press. F them. I’ll roll my own. I can’t believe I had the God given sense to buy primers 10 years ago after the last shortage. Actually I think it was in the middle of it but for some reason primers were available.

And remember, why aren’t they importing ammo? No excuse. For some reason the Sellier & Bellot pipeline from the Czech Republic has been turned off. Same for the Aguila from Mexico. Likewise the Armscor from the Philippines. Why? They don’t have a surge in sales, they don’t have a civilian market. Why aren’t they clamoring to get into ours? (I just found another overseas brand from Bosnia called ‘Igman’ at 2A Warehouse out of Houston. If I get the 200 rounds of TulAmmo 9mm I ordered from them, I’ll order 200 rounds of the Igman brass case.)

[Literally 3 days after writing this, when I was told Walmart no longer carries .22 LR ammo, they had comparative boxes and boxes of it on Wednesday. Now they have less.]

Sulfur

When you needed a wicked witch, Margaret Hamilton was your go to gal. I can’t imagine anyone else playing the WWW. There’s a scene early on where she pops in to say, “Okay, who the hell killed my sister?” Then when she leaves there’s this big old poof of green smoke! Glinda the Good Witch says, “Whew! The smell of burning sulfur!” In The Graduate the young (okay he was 30) Ben Braddock is told the future is, “Plastics!” Kind of, but in order to make plastics, you have to burn sulfur.

In my early morning diatribe to Grassley, Ernst and Feenstra (my reps), reprinted below, I point out to them the most obvious failings of our country at the current moment. A lot of it comes down to the fact America doesn’t make anything anymore. We assemble some products here, but we don’t “make” them. Like the My Pillow guy, he assembles his pillows in Minnesota. He doesn’t make the foam they’re filled with, or the fabric he covers them with. He gets that from China. His people just sew the parts together.

This subject has bothered the hell out of me ever since Nike left for the Far East in about ’82. You think, “Oh they just left to skirt labor costs.” Partially, but swear to God I just heard after 40 years the main reason. Government bureaucrats at the EPA in the late 70’s made the decree there would be no more sulfur emissions in the United States. That’s why manufacturing left. To satisfy the fucking greenies. Generally when you see something drastically out of kilter in this country, if you look deep enough, government actions will be at the bottom of it.

Post to Grassley, Ernst & Feenstra:

Our country has no border. How do you have a country without a border? What’s left of auto production in this country is slowed because we have no chips in the ‘computer age’. The national debt is $28T and will be over $30T as soon as latest stimulus is added to it. Savers haven’t been paid interest for 30 years because the government would be even more bankrupt if it had to pay interest on the national debt. China outpaces us militarily, not that we could go to war with them anyway, they make all our stuff. And now the Second Amendment has been stripped from Americans because we have no ammo. Do you think you’re doing a good job? I think we should replace Congress with A.I., frankly. I know you think your only job is to get reelected.

[Everyone of those issues is a result of no manufacturing base. Manufacturing was chased out of the U.S. which had great pollution controls, to China which has none.]

Maybe people will forget

Its the people of Arkansas that I feel sorry for, after Gov Hutchinson vetoed that bill to protect children. The shame they must feel driving around with Arkansas plates. They are good people down there, I was stationed there in the service, they don’t deserve to have a governor shaming them like that. I just pray to God his daddy wasn’t still alive to see such a craven act, it would a killed him. Tarnishing the Hutchinson name.

Its easy when there’s no consequences

SNL taking another potshot at Jesus last night, on Easter weekend no less. Oh how daring, how cutting edge (yawn). Christians aren’t going to cut your head off, are they? Nope. I’d like to see them make fun of Muslims during the middle of Ramadan. Let me know how that works out. Or make fun of Muslims anytime. You’re just not very cutting edge, are you SNL?

It reminds me years ago of what those clowns at the Ames Tribune did on Easter Sunday. They chose that weekend to have hell’s recruiter Hector Avalos write one of his anti-Jesus diatribes. That’s the last they heard of me of course. Back then they printed your address with LTE’s. Atheist Hector always used his ISU office address (he was a professor of religion, no irony). I always wondered, by using his university title and address, was he speaking for the university?

I even took that question to the “authorities”. Iowa’s AG, the ISU board of governors, the media, local pastors. No one was interested in the least that a state employee, openly and repeatedly and for no reason attacked a religion. Spewed venom at every chance towards the citizens of this state, the people who employed him. I always found that amazing. I tried to imagine him attacking Jews that way. Or Muslims. My imagination was insufficient for the task.
