GARA

It just never seems to quite work out for the little guy. Back in 1994 representatives of the people of Kansas (home of Cessna, Beechcraft and other airplane makers) introduced to Congress the General Aviation Revitalization Act. What it did was close out foreign competitors to private aviation. It didn’t close out access for the big boys, just for the little guy. Whereas in 1955 the private pilot could buy a brand spanking new Cessna for about $8,500 dollars (a little over a year and a half wages for a blue collar guy), it pushed the price of a new Cessna today to over $300,000 dollars. A tad more than a year and a half wages. Try 8 times a years blue collar salary.

So today private pilots scramble to buy the only thing still affordable, the decent 30/40/50/60 year old plane. Not as nice, not as safe. Or they can buy a kit from overseas, but not an assembled plane. So for $90,000 dollars or so they can spend what should be the price of new, and take a year to build it themselves. And the associated risk of a DIY project. 30 years ago seniors took group bus day trips to Canada to buy prescription drugs. The business model for the pharmaceutical industry has always had Americans paying 10 times what they do in Canada or Mexico, under the guise of having Americans pay for research and development.

Those 2 examples were pretty easy to figure out with 30 years of hindsight. I’m old enough to have noticed how votes in Congress go. If something that helps corporations comes up, well by golly it just barely squeaks by with enough votes. If its going to screw the little guy, some Senator who is 6 years out on reelection provides the passing vote. Funny how that works. Now the ammo shortage that has been going on the past 12 months has me stumped.

Now I understand why ammo producers like keeping a shortage going, they can make profits hand over fist by keeping supply low and prices high. But what I don’t understand are the sellers, the big box stores. Ya can’t sell what you don’t have. They haven’t had ammo or primers to sell for a year. If they had some they could sell ungodly amounts. The pent up demand is incredible. So since its not being produced domestically, why aren’t they going to foreign sources?

Their sales figures have to be way down. And there’s no reason for it. They’ve been importing a percentage of foreign ammo for years. Any shooter is familiar with Aguila, Sellier & Bellot and Armscor (Mexico, Czech Republic and Philippines). So they are not barred from importing. But why just those 3 makers? I suppose you could add a fourth one we’ve seen, TulAmmo from Russia I believe, but why just those 4? You know other countries that make guns, also make ammo, Argentina, Brazil, Croatia, Germany, so why aren’t we getting ammo from them? Its not like they have a civilian market they have to satisfy. (I just this week found out about a new one that a couple of online sellers are importing, but not big box stores, Igman from Croatia)

Boutique parties

An interesting phenomenon happened this year. After Democrats stole the election for Biden, people on the right knew they were fed up with the ‘can’t do’ Republican Party. I watched this play out on Gab (the 10% of the population with a pulse). A guy by the account name of Liberty Lion started the MAGA Party, tailor made for Donald Trump. Hold that thought, Trump had never heard of it and made noise about the ‘Patriot Party’. So Liberty Lion chucked ‘MAGA’ out the window and became the Patriot Party!

Screeching halt again! Fickle Trump decides he’s not going to go 3rd party at all but stick with those good ol’ Republicans. So MAGA/Patriot Party never gets off the ground at all and just becomes some guy barking at the moon on the internet. Another good guy on Gab (Henryk Fantazos) decides none of these parties are Christ centered enough, so he starts the American Populist Party. Based on Gab founder Andrew Torba’s populist platform.

Evidently the Reform Party, Constitution Party, Libertarian Party, Green Party, Socialist Workers Party and Patriot Party weren’t good enough. So some guy on the internet is going to rock the world with his American Populist Party. That’s 9 parties I can count, and I know I’m missing some. 7 of those are “no counts”. They don’t count for a hill of beans because they are all fighting for the same 10% of disaffected people. The 10% of people who have seen through the farce and ain’t playing that 2 party game no more.

The trouble is, 10% in one party would carry some weight. But splintered up between 7 different parties, they’re no force at all. They’re a farce not a force. Nobody cares about your 1% or 2%. You get 10% and you’re wielding power. 15% and you’re into John Anderson territory (1980). Having watched this for 50 years it always plays out the same. The egos involved can’t begin to entertain the idea of joining together. Their pride simply will not allow it.

When I pointed this out to Henry in a very delicate way, he stated “that party is as active as a coma”. Well, Henry, they believe every thing you do, so why don’t you give them your time, energy and money, and maybe they’ll become something! Oh hell no. He’s going to rant, rave and bark at the moon on the internet and that’s going to solve the world’s problems! Maybe not Henry. The 2 majors are counting on people staying stupid. Let’s do the exact same thing again!

“And the future of the Republican Party”

The GOP is as dead as John McCain, deader maybe

Trump: “Lisa Boothe, who has been doing an outstanding job at Fox News, is starting her own podcast, which begins this morning. I have agreed to an interview where we talk about Election Fraud, Joe Biden’s dangerously radical policies (2A and the Border!) and the future of the Republican Party.”

Me: There is no ‘future’ of the Republican Party. What have they ever done? Besides cut the corporate rate I mean? Did they block the 1968 Gun Control Act? Did they block the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban? Did they block the 1933 National Firearms Act? Did they ever limit the size, scope or expense of government? Nope. They’ve done jack shit.

Import the 3rd world, become the 3rd world

You can’t go a day without hearing about a released ICE detainee raping this American or murdering that American. The Biden Administration built a road for invading Mexicans down at the border so they’d have an easier time of it. A Mexican baseball player for the Cubs was just arrested for being a mule for meth. Its in their blood.

While the rest of America is under an unconstitutional lock down, Biden sends Mexicans with the COVID into the interior.

When did Congress begin to hate America first? I don’t get it. The picture above is pretty obvious. We’ve given the Defense Industry trillions over the years to defend us against an existential threat, and ignored the beaners on the border. Its not that “the world’s lone superpowercan’t defend its border, it won’t. We have more troops surrounding the Capitol then we do securing the border (none).

We’re no longer a ‘melting pot’. We’re a series of ethnic enclaves. China just made fools of us at the Biden conference (I think the telling point was when they held the US team down and anal swabbed them). When liberal Yahoo! News says the meeting descended into “chaos”, its bad. And nobody acknowledges it was Bill Clinton that leapfrogged China’s nuclear program 25 years with the sell of targeting technology from the Loral Corporation! The President of the United States put America in mortal danger!

Congress ignores the murderers, rapists and narcotics coming across the border. They won’t arrest them. They won’t deport them. They just give them a welfare check and a voter ID card (New York and California register Mexicans to vote when they give them a drivers license). Elected officials actively working against Americans.

Run for the border!

Yesterday a radio program was explaining the pay scale illegals have to pay “coyotes” to get smuggled into the US. They know quite well how to get here on their own. The coyotes are saying “you ain’t getting in unless you pay us”. Which is more than Border Patrol and ICE are doing, which is nothing. I figure since those 2 agencies don’t do anything, we should abolish them and use those billions to pay for the welfare checks we give illegals.

But the fact of the matter is the border is so out of control certain people who would rather not have to address it, are being forced to. From the Republican perspective this is all Biden and the Democrats fault. Which is funny as this has been going on for exactly 40 years now, its just a little worse than usual.

The bottom line is Republicans did nothing for 2 years when they held it all in 2017-2018. Nothing. What little was done on the border wall was done entirely by Trump. He was forced to juggle funds from DOD and Homeland Security I believe. The Republican Congress would not pass one piece of legislation to help. Not one. Now they want to blame Democrats for their inaction.

“What time is it kids? Its tranny time!”

Man in a dress flashing his genitals to children

In this post on Gab, in the comments I had put up a picture of Anita Bryant (picture below), and said, “She said it would be like this.” A young woman in her 30’s asked, “Who is that?” I said, “Anita Bryant. She fought the culture war, alone, in 1978. She tried to warn people of the can of worms they were opening by giving special rights to homosexuals. As I remember, she received no help from male clergy of the day. She was soon marginalized when each time she held a press conference, one of the gay gestapo would throw a pie in her face. Cheered on by the intelligentsia. Now we have men dominating “women” sports, tranny’s flashing school kids in queer story time and 4 yr old’s getting sex changes.”

“You fundamentally can’t change sex,” said Australian “transsexual” Alan Finch in 2004. “Transsexualism was invented by psychiatrists.” Tragically, Finch has more and more company in learning this lesson the hard way. One of the latest is a girl who, after a double mastectomy, laments, “My scars are so large and I want to crawl out of my skin.… I wish I could go back.”

They were just along for the ride

An obscure radio show on Saturday mornings is American Radio Journal. Think ‘Mike Pence‘, along for the Trump ride (as long as it benefits them), but never a believer. At the end of ARJ they have a commentary, often by the man pictured above, Colin Hanna. Radio and television host Laura Ingraham always made fun of people like this, “Their brand of conservatism is stuffy elites having erudite discussions on the economic principles of Adam Smith and issuing policy papers on national taxation, but never doing a damn thing for the working people of America.” Never coming to grips on how it devastated a nation to divest itself of its manufacturing jobs, and who exactly benefits from eternal war.

This morning’s show in the closing commentary attempted to do what all sectors of the “decent” GOP has been wanting to do for 4 years, throw dirt on the grave of Donald Trump. Bury the last smoldering remnants of the troublesome populism. Hanna even talked about the need to replace the name of their movement, ‘conservatism’, with something else. I knew I was in for a bad commentary when he led off praising the “father of the modern conservative movement”, William F. Buckley Jr.

The part I will never be able to reconcile in my brain is how do people like that come to the conclusions they do? I’ve been able to spot it for 30 years, but never to understand it. Starting with your baseline stupidity: Democrats (“everybody is a liberal when they’re 18”). Some people grow up and become Republicans. Republicans being only minimally better than Democrats. Some people like myself soon see the pointlessness of Republicans and become Third Level Citizens. Most people don’t though.

I’ve known just the best people who are never able to make that leap, and its very frustrating. On the other hand, people like Colin Hanna I just assign evil intent. People who cling to failed tactics. I’m much more pragmatic, if it doesn’t work, try something else. Beating your head against the wall until it becomes bloody makes absolutely no sense to me. Its the country club sect of Republicanism that behaves so irrationally, yet its their egotism that has them quite convinced their shit don’t stink.

Who Hanna was praising at the end showed me who the establishment is already pushing for 2024: Ben Sasse (RINO, Nebraska). I heard a clip on another establishment show a week or two before that, Nikki Haley and Sasse. His name keeps popping up. And its so funny because Sasse is just like Pence, Hanna and all the rest of the country clubbers. He looks like them, he makes them feel good, he checks all the boxes, but he will get slaughtered on the national stage. He brings nothing. He will be just another bloody carcass of roadkill on the Republican trail of tears. Just like President Mitt Romney (John McCain, Bob Dole, Gerald Ford, Barry Goldwater…). Losers.

[Editors note: in the commentary praising Sasse, he also praised Mike Pence. At the most recent CPAC convention, Pence received exactly 1% of support to be the next president. They are truly “one percenters”. Their brand is weak and flimsy. It reminded me of putting Wally Cox in the ring against Muhammad Ali.]

A quote from the Mike Pence link above:

“If I had to guess, I would guess that Pence is slightly surprised that his betrayal of Trump has pushed him to the bottom of the garbage heap, while others clamor to get Trump’s support.

In the end, Pence may have betrayed himself the most, thinking he was going to be the King of the GOP. Instead, he finds himself all alone and writing nonsense columns that no one reads because the American people are not going to abandon Trump. No one even has to promise them a VP position in exchange for their support.”

Shredded Ballots in Georgia

A superb job of promoting the false dialectic

American Greatness is an interesting example of what I think of as the ‘new breed’ of news sites. Not being in the business I have no idea what theirs and similar business models are. They seem like a going concern, yet how do they exist without recognizable names and some sort of backing? Everyone of these sites look a little familiar. The same clickbait ads and the same Disqus sign-in (the Disqus that censors a comment because it used a potty word, but allows Google ads, “I made $80K working from home!“)

They had the most fascinating article [The Narrative, the Coup, and the Bourgeoisie] this morning. Milton Abdiel was showing the parallels between America today and Russia of 1917. He focused on two areas: Communism’s need for an eternal ‘enemy’, and their need to censor the opposition. I just love the topic and reading about the birth of the Soviet Union.

Great article, totally pointless, but a great article. The failure of it was a refusal to be intellectually honest about two things. The fields are ripe for sowing the seeds of communism here, because the pendulum has swung in the favor of corporatism WAY too long. The ‘right’ loves to believe America is this bastion of laissez-faire free market capitalism, which it never was from the start (slavery, monopolists, imported exploited labor: Chinese, Irish, Italians, Mexicans…)

But the last point is the nearly the most crucial. He points to the savior of cancel culture and censorship of conservatives, as if it was the establishment platform Parler (note the Parler share button on their page next to Facebook’s & Twitter). A controlled platform. He completely ignores about the only true free speech platform on the internet, Gab. Gab is the threat to their total censorship.

Communism didn’t arise out of a vacuum, it was a response to something. It arose because of the abuses of the elite. Communism or corporatism, its just changing one set of masters for another. But that’s been the game for both sides (D’s & R’s), keep people focused on the battle between the two sides, so that they never see the third way. The only hope out of all this, is that they didn’t have the internet in 1917.

[One of the most intriguing aspects of the Soviet Union, was the lack of credit they get for their gulags, and being the #2 killer of all time of their own citizens. #1 being China of course. For some reason Hitler is always awarded the #1 spot, and he was actually #3. On top of that, when they do talk of Hitler, its only about the 6 million Jews, and not the 5.3 million other. I was talking to a college graduate about that era one time, and it was honestly news to him about the 5.3 million. He had no idea. And as I say, if you talk to anyone on the street, the automatic recitation of Hitler is bizarre.]

JFK on ‘secret societies’

JFK could deliver a speech I tell you what. This one was called The President and the Press. It was a different world 60 years ago when this speech was given (April 27, 1961). FDR had a quote similar to Wilson’s below, that I am having a hard time finding. President Trump referred to this as the “Deep State”. The media denies that the cabal exists, even when in the next breath Time Magazine brags how they used it to beat Trump. America’s first Secretary of Defense James Forrestal damn well knew it existed. He referred to their actions by saying, “If it was just stupidity, they would error in our favor once in awhile”. Its planned. I think in the back of your mind you’d kind of hoped there had been more patriots in our government, more that would have told these people to go to hell. Blown the whistle.

I have no idea how they do it

You tell me how something with a 10′ wide scoop, can take 33 minutes to clear a playground basketball court? At 15 seconds a pass, that’s 4 passes a minute. You would need 10 passes to clear the court. A playground basketball court is about 100 feet wide. He could clear it in 10 passes with a plow 10 feet wide. So if it should take 4 minutes, why is it taking 33?

All they have is an elementary school parking lot and a bus drive at Meeker (and the aforementioned basketball court). Intellectually I can’t wrap my head around how it takes them 5 hours to clear it of snow. The bus drive is 25 feet wide and a hundred yards long. The parking lot is about 150 feet by 240 feet. And the plow has a 10 feet wide scoop. So at 10 mph it takes about 12 seconds to go 100 yards (300 feet).

So those 3 areas total 53,000 square feet. So with a scoop 10 feet wide that would be the equivalent of 1 pass 5,300 feet long, or 1 mile. At 10 mph, that would take 6 minutes to go 1 mile. So why does it take them closer to 5 hours, to do 6 minutes worth of work?

Because you can’t just plow in a straight line once. You have “spillover” from all but very few plows that require you to go back. So double the 6 minutes to 12. You have stopping and turning. You have backing up. You have light poles, islands, and basketball hoop poles and such, add 10% you’re up to 14 minutes. Say I miscalculated and the average speed is closer to 5 mph instead of 10 mph, so you double the 14 minutes to 1/2 an hour or 30 minutes.

That’s about what it would take a “guy with a pickup” to do it. Add 15 minutes and you have the 1 hour that it predicts it would take at a “plow site”. No kidding they have these sites where you plug in the numbers of the area, so you know what to bid on a proposed job. They base plow projections on an acre (45 minutes per acre). There is 43,560 square feet in an acre. So Meeker Elementary is roughly 1.25 acres. So based on commercial plow calculation sites of 45 minutes an acre, that’s about 1 hour for an experienced driver to plow 1 and a quarter acres. So why is it taking school employees 5 times that?

One reason is they only plow in 1 direction. I’m not kidding you. In the example of the bus drive 100 yards long, he backs up 100 yards with the blade up. Doing nothing. A commercial guy would turn around and plow back the other way. His plow would virtually be on the ground the whole time plowing. So that means that when it takes school employees almost 5 hours, 2.5 hours of that is with the plow up, not doing anything.

So because they only plow in 1 direction, that means they would actually do it in 2.5 hours, if they had the blade on the ground the whole time, plowing in both directions. So now we’re down to 90 minutes more than what it would take a commercial driver. The missing 90 minutes.

Part of that can be explained why they were plowing on a Sunday evening at all. Why not just wait till Monday morning? The weekend is overtime. Sunday is a 10% differential on top of that. So by doing it Sunday night they get overtime, plus 10% Sunday differential, plus 10% night differential. So instead of just time and a half (150% of pay), its 150%, plus 10%, plus 10%, or 170% of pay for doing it Sunday night.

When you have that kind of monetary incentive to be slow, you are slow. You only plow in one direction. You’re sloppy with the spillover so you have to keep going over the same area, despite the fact with that type of scoop plow, there doesn’t have to be any spillover at all, you could have a clean pass every time.

But we still don’t know where the missing 90 minutes went (not that there is any excuse to only plow in one direction, or having your blade on the ground 50% of the time). So its actually 4 hours we’re missing, but let’s play their game anyway. The bottom line is a commercial drive could do the job 5 times, that they take to do once.

Clearing snow at night (bedtime), is a noisy and visually distracting (all the yellow flashing lights) 5 hours. Not to mention, by taking 5 times longer than it should, they are gouging the taxpayer to pay for their foolishness. So say for our purposes the snow removal costs for the schools should be $200,000 dollars, because of their deliberate time wasting, its costing the taxpayers of Ames $1,000,000 dollars.
